For those of you who have the Asian release, Dragon's Dogma Online's servers will close on December 5th.Massively multiplayer online role-playingĭragon's Dogma Online was a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) developed and published by Capcom for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Windows in 2015 As of 2019, the servers have been shut down. We will have to wait and see what Capcom has planned next for the franchise, and the development teams that were working on it. Whatever happens, it's a shame that western gamers never got a chance to try out Dragon's Dogma online. So perhaps the culling of Dragon's Dogma Online is clearing the path for something even more exciting - a proper Dragon's Dogma sequel for current and next generation consoles. In the time since Dragon's Dogma and Dragon's Dogma Online release, Capcom have seen a huge resurgence in popularity thanks to the surprise international success of Monster Hunter World, plus successful returns to form in the Resident Evil, Mega Man and Devil May Cry franchises. For whatever reason Capcom never saw it as worthy of an international release, and so - perhaps unsurprisingly - local audience numbers have dwindled to the point where continuing to keep the servers open doesn't make much financial sense. Despite some renewed interest in the original game thanks to its "Dark Arisen" definitive version getting a re-release on the current generation, Dragon's Dogma Online never got the global recognition that its fans claim it deserved. Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen recently saw a re-release for the current generation.
